We were so lucky, that we had the chance to explore Myanmar still in a time when it was not too touristic, not crowded and overrun. As you can imagine: it had its advantages and disadvantages. In many places we were almost alone as visitors and could have sights for own. At the same time there is not such a great choice of hotels and getting from one place to the other can take a bit longer. Still we could see everything we wanted and organized the whole stay just like in the rest of Southeast Asia. Completely on our own, locally and via – the sometimes rather slow – Internet.
